Accessorize all your blouses, sweaters and cardigans with this simple and glittery collar pin!
Collar chains are a super easy way to add a touch of glam to everyday blouses, to adorn plain coats, or even to dress up wooly sweaters and cardigans. All you need is glittery foam, jump rings, and chain. You can even leave the chain off, if you like – simply pin the two hearts on your collar instead.
This project is so fun, cheap and ridiculously easy that you will want to make a different set for each of your collared shirts!
What You Need
- Lapel pins – tack and back (or earring pins, or clips)
- Chain
- Jump rings
- Googly eyes
- Jewelry pliers
- Needle
- Glitter foam sheets
- Plain card
- Marker
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (or super glue)
- Heart template
How-To
Step 1
Cut out the heart paper pattern. Use a pen to transfer two heart shapes on the back of the glitter foam and cut them out. Make a hole by pressing the needle through the bottom of each heart.
Step 2
Choose the length of chain you want to use by measuring your collared shirt or cardigan – mine was about 5” long. Use your pliers to attach a jump ring to one end of the chain and loop it through the hole in one of the glittery hearts. Close the jump ring with the pliers. Repeat this with another jump ring, the other end of the chain, and the remaining glittery heart.
Step 3
Hot glue the lapel pins onto the back of the hearts and then hot glue googly eyes onto the glitter side. Your charming glittery hearts are ready to accessorize any collar!
Step 4
Poke holes by pushing a needle through the gift card. Pin the two hearts in and fill in the back of the gift cards.
A good choice for decorating!
